Since our founding on September 23, 1946, UNC Charlotte has transformed from a night school serving World War II veterans into a vibrant research university, making it one of the great success stories of American higher education. With characteristic grace and determination, our founder, Bonnie E. Cone worked tirelessly for the University, motivating students, winning friends, and attracting benefactors.
As we continue to honor Miss Bonnie's legacy and keep her tradition of serving others alive, we encourage you to support UNC Charlotte students by making a gift of any size to one of our student success initiatives.
Make a bigger impact by taking advantage of challenges during the 49 hours of #NinerNationGives.
The Evergreen Scholarship Fund is a unique and flexible scholarship fund designated to help our students with their ultimate goal - to graduate. This criteria allows us to identify the changing needs of our diverse group of students over time to help them meet their goals.
As a result, the Evergreen Scholarship Fund allows the University to combine several donors' gifts, regardless of size, to leverage additional funding for students to get them over a small financial hurdle.
Sharon L. Gaber Student Success Scholarship Fund
Celebrating Dr. Gaber’s success to date as UNC Charlotte’s fifth Chancellor, the University is establishing the Sharon L. Gaber Student Success Scholarship Fund. This need-based scholarship will open doors of opportunity for students, inspiring the next generation of innovative thinkers and leaders for the Charlotte area and beyond.
Joan F. Lorden Graduate Opportunity Fund
In recognition of Dr. Lorden’s long-standing service and outstanding contributions, individuals within and beyond the University are working to establish the Joan F. Lorden Graduate Opportunity Fund as she retires later this year after over 19 years of service. The fellowship will be available to students undertaking any course of graduate study who have demonstrated financial need and academic excellence. The UNC Charlotte Foundation has offered a dollar-per-dollar match for contributions up to $25,000.
