The College of Arts + Architecture is an interdisciplinary community of imaginative thinkers, makers, and problem-solvers working in design and the visual and performing arts. A close-knit college of nearly 1000 students, the CoA+A offers more than 30 degrees and concentrations – all nationally accredited – across five creative departments.
As we prepare students for a post-pandemic landscape, we celebrate the resilience of the arts and artists and their unique ability to create a more beautiful and just world.

Make a bigger impact by taking advantage of the following challenges!
- Competition of the Fine Arts! An anonymous alumni couple has stepped up to challenge the Art, Theatre, and Dance departments of CoA to reach the highest number of gifts during #NinerNationGives. The area with the most gifts will unlock the biggest reward!
- Happy 50th Anniversary, SoA! 50 gifts to the School of Architecture will unlock $1,500 to the LS3P School of Architecture Scholarship from alumnus Jeff Floyd '77.
- Theatre and Dance need your help, Niners! 25 gifts to either of these fine arts during #NinerNationGives will unlock a $2,000 reward for the Performing Arts Scholarship from UNC Charlotte employee Beth Crigler!
- For each gift made to the Music Department during #NinerNationGives, award-winning tubist Jim Self will contribute $1,000 (up to 25 gifts). Increase your impact on music and give now!
- Did you graduate in the last decade?! If so, alumni couple Gene '73 and Vickie '71, '82 Johnson are challenging all colleges to reach 49 young alumni donors during #NinerNationGives. College of Arts + Architecture
By supporting this fund, you give the Dean and Department Chairs/Director the opportunity to fund travel abroad programs, emergency relief funding, financial assistance to those in need, and financial awards. As an example, the CoA+A typically generates $30,000 in ticket sales and donations during live performances. Because of COVID we were able to open shows to the public last year. Your gifts will be put to use in a most deserving way.
Pride of Niner Nation Marching Band
The Marching Band is the single most visible entity on the University campus. They perform at football games, at basketball games, at Convocation, at special events, and even city parades. They take part in local high school competitions and deliver 49er Pride in many joyful ways. Members of the Pride of Niner Nation come from each of the eight Colleges on our campus, all ages and majors. Your gift provides pivotal funding as we continue to grow.
