Charlotte 49ers Athletics
With our eagerly-anticipated move to the American Athletic Conference, we are excited about the direction our program is heading. In 2020-21, we enjoyed a record-breaking year by sending 7 programs to their respective NCAA Tournaments and had the highest overall finish in Conference USA in our 18 sports. We have continued that trend in 2021-22 with additional NCAA trips and additional programs enjoying their highest national ranks, ever.

At the same time, our student-athletes have excelled away from their competitions. Last year, we led all of C-USA with 333 student-athletes named to the league's Commissioner's Honor Roll and 109 receiving the league's Academic Medal.

And, despite the interruptions to our schedules caused by the pandemic, Niner Nation stepped up with record giving numbers. This past fall, as we began to return to "normal", Niner Nation showed what an electric game day atmosphere looks like.

This year presents an even greater need.  We hope you will join us during #NinerNationGives to support our 400+ male and female student-athletes by selecting one of the areas of need below.

  • Shape what’s next for the 49ers. Support 49er Athletics for the first time as they prepare to join the American Athletic Conference. 100 new donors will unlock a $4,900 contribution from alumnus Gene Johnson ‘73!
  • Former Charlotte 49ers softball player Andrea Howard is matching gifts to the Judy W. Rose Let Me Play fund dollar for dollar up to $5,000 during the 49 hours! Give to Let Me Play now to double the impact for Charlotte 49ers women's athletics.

  • Marketing Professor Emerita Linda Swayne will match donations made to the Athletic Foundation by UNC Charlotte faculty and staff dollar for dollar up to $10,000.

Athletic Annual Fund

Supports the general scholarship fund for Charlotte 49ers Athletics providing scholarship assistance and other programmatic needs to more than 400 student-athletes in 18 varsity sports. Gifts to the annual fund are critical to the growth of the athletic program.

Judy W. Rose Let Me Play Fund for Women’s Athletics

Named in honor of longtime 49ers Director of Athletics, Judy W. Rose, the Let Me Play Fund provides direct support to our women’s athletic programs.
