Charlotte Athletics
The Charlotte 49ers Athletic Foundation provides financial assistance to over 500 male and female student-athletes in 19 varsity sports. Donations to the funds listed below provide the resources for our annual operating costs including scholarships, nutrition, sports medicine, student-athlete development, recruiting, academic services, technology, travel, and other miscellaneous needs. These gifts are critical to the success of our programs and student-athletes.
Charlotte's Stock is Rising and student-athletes are continuing to experience success in the American Conference, in the classroom, and in the community.
These accomplishments would not be possible without the generous support from Niner Nation to our annual fund. Your continued support during Niner Nation Gives will help all 500+ student-athletes get the resources they need to compete in the American Athletic Conference.

- UNLOCKED - Let’s start Niner Nation Gives Strong! If Charlotte Athletics secures 100 gifts in the first one hour and 49 minutes of the campaign, alumni Gene ‘73 & Vickie ‘71 ‘82 Johnson will contribute a bonus $4,900 to the Charlotte 49ers.
- UNLOCKED - Marketing Professor Emerita Linda Swayne will match donations made to the Athletic Foundation by UNC Charlotte faculty and staff dollar for dollar up to $10,000.
- UNLOCKED - Athletic Foundation Past President and former 49er Women's Tennis player Ali Lacy Sherrill is matching gifts to the Judy W. Rose Let Me Play fund dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000 throughout the campaign. Give to Let Me Play now to double your impact toward Charlotte 49ers women's athletics.
- UNLOCKED - Former Charlotte 49ers volleyball player Krista Long is challenging former student-athletes to support the 49ers during Niner Nation Gives! If 100 former student-athletes support Athletics in 49 hours, Krista will give $5,000!
