The College of Arts + Architecture (CoA+A) promotes the arts and design as engines of civic imagination and social equity through distinction in creative teaching and research, artistic performance, and community-driven work.
The past year has brought great challenges for so many – not least for our talented, hardworking students. We are motivated every day to provide them with access to an excellent education.
As you take part in #NinerNationGives, we hope you will support student scholarships in the CoA+A. In a “normal” year, ticket sales to our performing arts events provide crucial scholarship funding. But with our theatres darkened by coronavirus, that revenue has been lost.

Make a Difference
Support student scholarships, programs or any of our five departments within the CoA+A, or choose from one of the three highlighted funds below.
College of Arts + Architecture Fund.
By supporting this fund, you give the Dean and Department Chairs/Director the opportunity to fund travel abroad programs, emergency relief funding, financial assistance to those in need, and financial awards. As an example, the CoA+A typically generates $30,000 in ticket sales and donations during live performances. Because of COVID we have not been able to open shows to the public. Your gifts will be put to use in a most deserving way.
Pride of Niner Nation Marching Band Fund.
The Marching Band is the single most visible entity on the University campus. They perform at football games, at basketball games, at Convocation, at special events, and even city parades. They take part in local high school competitions and deliver 49er Pride in many joyful ways. Members of the Pride of Niner Nation come from each of the eight Colleges on our campus, all ages and majors. Your gift provides pivotal funding as we continue to grow.
David Walters Scholarship.
One of the most iconic professors in the School of Architecture, David taught architectural design, housing design, urban history, and urban design and planning beginning in 1990. He was the Founding Director of the Master of Urban Design Program for six years until his retirement in 2014. His sphere of influence reaches across the spectrum of alumni and throughout the city of Charlotte. An endowment has been created in his honor and your gift will help secure this deserving award.
