49er Athletics continues to succeed in our first year in the American Athletic Conference (AAC). Charlotte is the only new school in the conference to not just win one, but two conference titles in their inaugural season (men's soccer, women's indoor track & field). The Niners men's basketball team also secured the #3 seed in the AAC Basketball Championship. Softball opened their season by knocking off #4 Florida State, their highest ranked victory in program history. On the individual front, Men’s Cross Country standout Nick Scudder claimed the AAC Individual Cross Country Championship and placed fourth at the NCAA Southeast Regional. Riley Felts placed second in the pole vault at the NCAA Indoor Championships, the highest any individual has finished in Charlotte history. And these are only a few of the many accomplishments our teams and student-athletes have achieved so far this year.
In the classroom, our student-athletes continue to excel and lead the university in several categories:
- Fall 2023 Departmental Cumulative GPA: 3.251 (University: 3.188)
- 68% (311) of student-athletes earned a 3.0 or better (Athletic Director's List)
- 22% (101) of student-athletes earned a 4.0
These accomplishments would not be possible without the generous support from Niner Nation to our annual fund. This year, your continued support during Niner Nation Gives will help all 500+ student-athletes get the resources they need to compete in the American Athletic Conference.
Thank you for your support of Charlotte Athletics and GO NINERS!
