In the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (CLAS), our disciplines are as diverse as our students. Our many departments, applied research centers and interdisciplinary programs unite behind the shared goal of educating critical and imaginative thinkers through inquiry and engagement. We encourage students to dream big and to challenge themselves. We cultivate leadership, self-confidence, persistence and responsiveness in a world increasingly characterized by diversity and change. We also engage the community broadly, through intellectual offerings that draw from the talents of our faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends.

Harper-Thomas Legacy Endowment Scholarship for Study Abroad
This merit-based award supports students’ international educational experiences, with preference given to self-identified first-generation college students from underrepresented populations. It also honors the commitment of CLAS emeritus professors Mary Harper and Herman Thomas to help hundreds of first-generation students since the 1970s succeed by embarking upon educational and intellectual journeys around the world.
College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Graduate Student Fund
The CLAS Graduate Student Fund helps students in advanced degree programs to graduate on schedule. The fund was established by multiple donors in 2020, in response to the impacts of COVID-19, and supports high-achieving students in good standing during the last year of their graduate degree.
Russell and Sally Robinson Endowed Scholarship for the Liberal Arts & Sciences
Longtime UNC Charlotte supporters Russell and Sally Robinson established this scholarship for incoming freshmen who intend to pursue a degree in CLAS. It provides recipients with financial resources to support their academic experience, including tuition, fee, and other expenses.
